Second only to the father/daughter dance, the last dance of the night is my one of my favorite photos. It signals the end of an incredible night of celebration and the beginning of forever. The makeup is no longer freshly applied, but the awkward firsts of the day have long since settled into the familiar comfort of an old friend.
So many couples have shared that tender time on the dance floor, and a few have slipped away into the back gazebo to covet those last moments in private and perhaps reflect over the past hours of friends, laughter, family, food and guests who came from far away.
The photo above, while not a dancing shot, was taken by Tyler Schmitt of The Mill Photo Studio, one of our very first photographers and who also celebrated our 20th anniversary with us. It perfectly captures the mood toward the end of a night of festivities.
Kindred Oaks will take to the floor one last time on May 3, 2026 with a party (details below). We hope you’ll join us.
In our 22 years, we’ve had close to a million visitors to the website and overseen the weddings of over 2,000 couples. That means somewhere in the neighborhood of a bazillion “thank you” wishes we wish to extend to all the couples, vendors, families, guests, friends and family members who have entrusted their most special of days with us.
Selling half of the property to Cornerstone Community Church was an easy decision to make. We’ve always felt like we were just caretakers of the grounds and it’s time to pass the torch.
As we make our grand exit, we sure hope to see you at the party. (INFO BELOW).
We’re looking forward to many more small weddings, sunsets, gorgeous flowers and maybe even a dance or two, just down the hill and around the bend. We’ll be next door with Lincoln Chapel, Zuzu’s Petals and our newest kid, Kindred Botanical Market.
Embracing life changes,
Elaine & Steve
